How to Choose Health for the New Year

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

It's the beginning of a new year and you're all filled with the possibilities and excitement that only a new year can bring. Maybe your new year's resolution is to finally get in shape. If it is, then congratulations to you! Choosing health for the new year is not only admirable but essential to enjoying not just the new year but many years to come!

How can you make sure that you actually make your health a priority this year? Start simple! You can improve your health greatly by following just these few simple tips that will keep you dedicated, motivated, and seeing improvements to your health in no time at all!

Drink More Water

The first and easiest thing that you can do to put you on the road to health is it drink more water! Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day helps your body in more ways than you can imagine. Your body is made up of 55-60% water. You body uses water to do everything from digesting food to help keeping your skin supple.

Drinking more water will help boost your energy and keep you feeling great! An easy way to do

drink more water is to fill up a water bottle and bring it with you wherever you go. Make sure that you're drinking from it throughout the day and refill it when necessary. Also consider removing all sugary juices and sports drinks from your fridge. If there's only water in your home to drink, you'll find yourself drinking more of it.

Another easy tip to put yourself on the road to good health is movement. Did I say exercise? No! I said movement. Exercise has a funny place in most of our minds. The word itself conjures up uncomfortable images of pain and sweat while eliciting guilt since most of us don't exercise enough and we know it. So instead of thinking about exercise, think about it as movement. Moving is essential to life. If you aren't moving, you aren't living.

Choose something that you love to do and do it often. Do you dancing? Then dance your pants off... to a smaller size. Do you love running? Then run like you're in training for the Chicago marathon (or maybe just train for the Chicago marathon if that's your thing).

With these two tips, you'll start feeling good and seeing good results. Once you make these two changes, other lifestyle and diet changes with follow and create a snowball effect of good old fashioned health. You'll look good, you'll feel great, and you will be motivated to continue down your health journey, excited for the beneficial changes to come.

So let's get to drinking water, moving, and feeling great for the new year!
